Frequently

Asked Questions

What should I wear and bring in summer?

Summer in the Rockies can be warm during the day and cooler in the mornings and evenings. We recommend dressing in layers so you can adjust throughout the day. Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and water, especially on sunny days. Comfortable walking shoes are also important, as many stops involve short walks or uneven ground.

What should I wear and bring in winter?

Winter conditions can be cold and snowy, so proper gear makes a big difference. We recommend warm layers, a winter jacket, gloves, a hat, and insulated footwear with good grip. Even on colder days, you’ll still be getting in and out of the vehicle, so dressing appropriately will help you stay comfortable and enjoy the experience.

Is lunch included in the tour?

Lunch is not typically included unless stated in the tour details. We build in time for food stops, and your guide will recommend good options depending on the route and your preferences.

Is a National Park Pass included?

Yes, your Parks Canada National Park Pass is included with all of our tours and covers your entry to Banff National Park for the duration of the tour. You do not need to purchase a separate pass for the day of your tour. If you plan to spend additional time in the national parks before or after your tour, you may need to purchase your own separate pass.

What is the group size?

We focus on small-group tours to keep the experience more personal and flexible. Group sizes will go up to 14 guests, depending on the tour.

What kind of vehicle will we be in?

We have a fleet of modern Ford Transit tour vans, that comfortably seat 14 passengers, plus your driver. They’re well-maintained, clean, spacious and suited for all seasons in the Rockies. Each van is equipped with high windows to soak in the scenery, along with air conditioning and heating to ensure a comfortable journey, no matter the season.

Will we see wildlife?

There’s always a chance, but wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Our guides know the area well and will keep an eye out, but animals move on their own schedule.

What is the weather like in Banff and the Rockies?

Weather in the Rockies can change quickly and varies by elevation. Even on clear days, temperatures can shift depending on where you are and what time of day it is. We recommend checking the forecast before your tour and planning for layers so you’re comfortable throughout the day.

Are your tours good for photography?

Absolutely! We plan stops at key viewpoints and scenic locations, and there’s plenty of time to take photos along the way. Your guide can also help with timing and recommendations for the best spots.

Are your tours accessible?

Accessibility varies depending on the tour and specific stops. Some locations are easy to access, while others involve short walks or uneven terrain.
If you have specific requirements, reach out ahead of time and we’ll help you find the best option. Accessibility varies depending on the tour and specific stops.

Unfortunately, we do not have wheelchair accessible vehicles within our fleet.

Can I customize a tour?

Do you offer hotel pickup?

Our shared tours have set pick-up locations across Canmore, Harvie Heights, Banff and Lake Louise, while we can happily offer pickup from your preferred location on a private tour.

How much walking is involved on your tours?

Our tours are designed to be flexible, and walking is optional. You can choose how much you would like to explore at each stop, and your guide will be happy to suggest easier alternatives or viewpoints if you prefer a more relaxed pace. Guests with limited mobility or those who prefer not to walk long distances are welcome - please let us know if you have any concerns so we can help you plan the best experience.

How long are the tours?

Tour length varies depending on the experience, but most range from half-day to full-day. Specific timing is listed on each tour page.

What time will my tour return?

Return times can vary depending on traffic, wildlife sightings, weather, road conditions, and the pace of the day. While we aim to return close to the scheduled time, we recommend allowing some flexibility if you have plans afterwards. If you'd like to know the scheduled return time for your specific tour, please refer to your booking confirmation, or contact our Operations Team and we'll be happy to confirm it for you.

Are tours suitable for kids?

Yes, most of our tours are family-friendly. If you’re travelling with younger children, feel free to reach out and we can recommend the best options.

Do I need to book in advance?

We recommend booking in advance, especially during peak seasons. Tours can fill up quickly, and planning ahead helps secure your preferred date.

Is the tour guaranteed to run?

Our shared tours require a minimum number of guests to operate. In the unlikely event that a tour does not meet the minimum guest requirement, or unforeseen operational circumstances arise, we may need to cancel the departure. If this happens, we'll contact you as soon as possible and offer an alternative tour or a full refund.

When booking a private tour, you are booking our vehicle and driver/tour guide. As such, you only need one or more guests for the tour to operate.

Do children need a car seat, and can you provide one?

At the time of writing, Alberta law requires that children under 6 years of age who weigh 18 kg (40 lbs) or less must travel in an appropriate, properly installed child safety seat.

We often find that little ones are more comfortable in a child seat they are used to, and installation by the parents is quicker with a familiar child seat, so we recommend bringing your own. If you're unable to bring your own, we have a very limited number of child car seats available to hire for $20 per day, subject to availability.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The tours run rain, snow or sunshine as the Rockies are beautiful in all seasons, but safety is our first priority. We may modify the itinerary if conditions are severe, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. In rare cases where conditions are unsafe, we’ll contact you to reschedule or provide alternative options.

What happens if there is wildfire smoke during my tour?

During the summer months, wildfire smoke and haze can occasionally affect the Banff area, even when there are no active wildfires nearby. Smoke can travel long distances from fires in other regions and conditions can change throughout the day. Our tours continue to operate when it is safe to do so, and your guide will monitor conditions throughout the day. If you have any concerns about air quality or how smoke may affect your experience, please speak with your guide, who can provide the most up-to-date information and recommendations.

Can I bring luggage on the tour or transfer?

For transfers, yes. For tours, space can be limited depending on the vehicle, so it’s best to check with us in advance.
